Merton G. Rice, 88, of Dansville, previously of Oswego, died Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Merton was employed at Nestle Co. in Fulton and retired in 1988.
He was an active member of the Hamer Sing-a-long Group and Oswego Valley Snowbelters Chorus. He was an Army Air Corp veteran, serving during World War II.
Merton was predeceased by his wife, Bessie Shepard Rice in 1965; brothers, Philip, Homer, Allen and Gordon; sisters, Maude Bueg, Grace Schnur and Louisa Rimkevitze; grandson, Jonathon Rice and great-grandson, Ryan Strong.
Surviving: his son, Ellis (Vanessa) Rice of Fulton; daughter, Sally (Greg) Ringelberg of Dansville; brother, Archie Rice of Florida; sister, Agnes Hawelka of Fulton; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Ira United Methodist Church, 12479 Ferris Road, Cato. Burial will follow at Roosevelt Cemetery in Schroeppel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Hospice. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has charge of arrangements.
