Phoenix boys’ soccer ends year with a win

The Phoenix boys varsity soccer team’s season came to an end with a win over Solvay Oct. 15.

Phoenix got it done with consistent efforts in each half en route to a 4-2 win.

The Firebirds got off to a decent start. They jumped out to a 2-1 lead during the first half.

Phoenix added to its lead during the second half. They outscored Solvay by a goal down the stretch to come away with the 4-2 win.

The Firebirds were led by Kyle Demo, with a goal and and an assist.Following Demo were John Garofalo, Zachary Schlachter and Ryan Wranesh who scored a goal each. Luke Schlachter is also credited with an assist. Goalkeeper Bryce Plante saved 15 of Solvay’s 17 shots on goal.

The season ending win allows Phoenix to carry momentum into 2014. Equally as important, the win sends out the teams four seniors in style.

Andy Padula, Bryce Plante, Ryan Pinzer and Trevor Wells played key roles for The Firebirds on and off the field this season.
