Hannibal girls’ volleyball team beats Bishop Grimes

The Hannibal varsity volleyball team came away with a Homecoming Game win over Bishop Grimes Oct. 11.

Hannibal won all 3 sets against Bishop Grimes with scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-23.

The Lady Warriors junior varsity team also came away with a win that day.

Hannibal was led by Captain Carolyn Thompson, who had 5 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks against Bishop Grimes.

Following Thompson was fellow Captain Jessica Stauring with 3 kills, 5 aces, and 4 blocks, then Tylina Scoville with  6 kills and 2 blocks. Captain Samantha Bowers added an ace and 6 digs.

Brittany Clark chipped in 3 aces and 2 assists, while Page McKenzie had an ace and 3 assists. Sydney Susino tallied 13 assists for The Lady Warriors.

This season marks Hannibal’s first season playing volleyball during the fall season. According to Hannibal varsity volleyball Coach Angela Pietroski, though the transition to playing in the fall has been a change, her team has done a great job of making the necessary adjustments.

So far this season, Pietroski is very pleased with her teams’ work ethic.

“The girls have really stepped up their game.” she said. “I am very pleased with how they are practicing hard and transitioning their hard practices onto the court during game play.”
