The Fulton girls varsity soccer team finished a seven-game stretch with two wins, two ties and three losses.
Christian Brothers Academy held off the Lady Raiders Sept. 21 by a score of 2-1.
After a competitive first half, the game went into halftime scoreless. CBA seized control during the second half, outscoring Fulton by a goal down the stretch en route to the 2-1 win.
Leading the way for Fulton was Hailey Carroll, who scored one goal assisted by Jordan Coulon. Goalkeepers Hunter Hartranft and Maddie Lang combined to save 10 of Christian Brothers Academy’s 12 shots on goal.
Fulton played Homer to a tie Sept. 24. Homer jumped out to an early 1-0 lead during the first half. The Lady Raiders battled back during the second half, tying the score at 1 down the stretch to force overtime.
After neither team allowed a possible game-winning goal to be scored during the first overtime period, the game remained tied at 1. However, during the second overtime period, both teams were able to score.
But the game ended following the second overtime period with the game tied at 2.
Fulton was led by Callie Beckwith and Jordan Coulon with a goal each. Goalkeeper Hartranft saved 6 of Homer’s 8 shots on goal.
The Lady Raiders fell to East Syracuse Minoa Oct. 1 by 4-0. After a competitive first half, East Syracuse Minoa had just a 1-0 lead over Fulton., but then ESM pulled away during the second half, adding 3 goals down the stretch.
Leading the way for Fulton were goalkeepers Lang and Hartranft who combined to save 10 of East Syracuse Minoa’s 14 shots on goal.
Jamesville-DeWitt cruised past the Lady Raiders Oct. 4 by a score of 4-1. Following a competitive first half, Fulton was down just one goal at 2-1.
Jamesville-DeWitt took over during the second half, scoring 2 unanswered goals down the stretch.
The Lady Raiders were led by Jordan Coulon with one goal. Goalkeeper Hunter Hartranft saved 9 of Jamesville-Dewitt’s 13 shots on goal.
The Lady Raiders held off county foeMexico Oct. 8 with a 1-0 win. After a hard fought first half, the game was scoreless heading into halftime. Fulton took care of business during the second half scoring a goal down the stretch.
Leading the way for Mexico was goalkeeper Sabrina Adams, who saved 9 of Fulton’s 10 shots on goal. Fulton was led by Sydney Gilmore, who scored a goal that was assisted by Jordan Coulon. Goalkeeper Hartranft saved every shot Mexico sent her way.
The Lady Raiders earned their second win in as many games when they beat Cortland 3-1 Oct. 10.
Fulton jumped out to a 1-0 lead during the first half and added to their lead during the second half, outscoring Cotland by a goal. Leading the way for the Lady Raiders were Sarah Halstead, Sydney Gilmore and Hailey Carroll, each with 1 goal.
Callie Beckwith is credited with 2 assists. Goalkeeper Hantranft saved 4 of Cortland’s 5 shots on goal.
Fulton capped off the 7-game stretch by tying Chittenango 1-1. After a hard fought first half, the game went into halftime with no score. The intense competition remained high during the second half.
Neither team allowed the potential game-winning goal down the stretch as the scoreless game went to overtime.
Both teams were able to score during the first overtime period putting the game at 1-1. Neither team allowed the other the opportunity to gain the upper hand during the second overtime session and the game ended 1-1.
Fulton was led by Madden Rowlee, who scored a goal that was assisted by Kara Bricker. Goalkeeper Hartranft saved 3 Chittenango’s 4 shots on goal.
