The Fulton boys’ varsity soccer team went 5-2-2 in its last nine games.
The team beat Chittenango, Mexico, Marcellus, East Syracuse Minoa and Oswego while tying Cortland and Jamesville-DeWitt.
It lost to Fowler and Baldwinsville.
The Red Raiders came away with an impressive 6-1 win over Chittenango Sept. 24. After a hard fought first half, the game went into halftime tied at 1.
The second belonged to Fulton. They scored 5 unanswered goals down the stretch en route to the win.
Leading the way for the Red Raiders were Carlos Feliciano and Carson Vono, who cored two goals each and had an assist. Austin Wilde had a goal and an assist, Spencer Vono added a goal and Udiel Jimenez chipped in an assist. Goalkeeper Robert Borrow saved 5 of Chittenango’s 6 shots on goal.
Fulton played Cortland to a draw on Sept. 26. Following a competitive first half, the Red Raiders and Cortland were tied at 1.
The second half proved to be equally as competitive. Both teams scored a goal down the stretch to force overtime with the game tied at 2.
Neither team refused to give up the potential game winning goal during each of the overtime sessions as the game concluded in a 2-2 tie.
Fulton was led by Carlos Feliciano with a goal and an assist. Following Feliciano was Carson Vono who scored a goal. Jeremy Langdon added an assist. Goalkeeper Borrow saved 11 of Cortland’s 13 shots on goal.
The Red Raiders came up short against Baldwinsville Sept. 28. The game went into halftime scoreless following an intense first half of action. The second half proved to be equally as intense.
Neither team wanted to surrender what could have been the game winning goal down the stretch as regulation ended, still without a score. However, Baldwinsville took a 1-0 lead during the first overtime session.
Fulton was unable to tie the game during the final moments of overtime play as Baldwinsville held on for the 1-0 win. Leading the way for the Red Raiders was goalkeeperr Borrow with 13 saves of Baldwinsville’s 14 shots on goal.
The Red Raiders endured another intense battle when they took on Jamesville-DeWitt Oct. 1.
Following another hard fought first half of action, Fulton and J-D were yet to score. The intense play continued during the second half. Both teams retained the refuse to lose mentality while neither team could get an edge on the other.
The game went into overtime as both teams were unable to get onto the scoreboard. However, neither team would be able to score the potentially game winning points in either of the overtime sessions as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
The Red Raiders were led by goalkeeper Borrow, who saved all 9 shots Jamesville-Dewitt sent his way.
Fulton cruised past county foe Mexico 4-1 Oct. 3. The Red Raiders got off to a solid start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead during the first half.
But, the game was more competitive during the second half. Even though Mexico kept Fulton from expanding its lead down the stretch, they were unable to cut into the deficit they faced.
Leading the way for Mexico was Jacob Delosh, who scored a goal. Goalkeeper Tyler Stever saved 9 of the Red Raiders 13 shots on goal.
Fulton was led by Carson Vono with 2 goals. Reynoso and Spencer Vono scored a goal each. Ian Devendorf, Jeremy Langdon and Matt Holden combined for 3 assists. Goalkeeper Borrow saved 3 of Mexico’s 4 shots on goal.
The Red Raiders escaped with a hard fought win over Marcellus 1-0 Oct. 8.
After a competitive first half, the game went into halftime tied, 0-0. However, Fulton would get the edge during the second half. They scored a goal down the stretch to clinch the 1-0 win.
Leading the way for the Red Raiders was Derek Prosser, who scored a goal that was assisted by Paul Reynoso. Goalkeeper Borrow saved every shot Marcellus attempted.
Fowler held off Fulton 1-0 Oct. 11.
Fulton was down only 1-0 after the first half, but they were unable to tie the game during the second half.
Fulton was led by goalkeeper Borrow, with 14 save out of Fowler’s 15 shots on goal.
The Red Raiders got back to their winning ways by knocking off archrival Oswego Oct. 12 by a score of 5-1.
Leading the way for Oswego was Santiago Orta with a goal. Goalkeeper Adam Scharf saved 8 out of Fulton’s 13 shots on goal.
The Red Raiders were led by Carson Vono with 2 goals, followed by Jeff Waldron, Carlos Feliciano and Ian Devendorf with a goal each. Jarad Marden, Austin Wilde and Jeremy Langdon combined for 3 assists. Goalkeeper Borrow saved 9 of Oswego’s 10 shots on goal.
Fulton wrapped up the 9-game stretch by holding off East Syracuse Minoa Oct. 15 by a score of 2-1.
After a hard fought first half, the game was tied at 1. Fulton took care of business during the second half, scoring a goal down the stretch to escape with the win.
Leading the way for Fulton were Paul Reynoso and Jeff Waldron, with a goal each. Derek Prosser was credited with an assist. Goalkeeper Borrow saved 4 of ESM’s 5 shots on goal.
