Markert snags Viewers’ Choice in competition

At the Fulton Art Association’s first Photography Competition held on Aug. 3-4 at the Fulton Municipal Building, every person who attended was allowed to vote for their favorite piece from all of the entries in the show.

The winner of that public vote is awarded the Viewers’ Choice Award and receives a ribbon and prize comparable to the judge’s Best of Show award.

Tim Markert, of Central Square, won the public’s choice for this award with his color, landscape photograph, “Ontario Sunset on the Rocks.” He received a ribbon and $50 award.

Second place was a tie between Kathryn Mihalek’s (Fulton) color, animal photo of Kaan, a tiger from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, titled “Face to Face with Kaan,” and Tim Markert’s color, landscape photo titled “Wehle at Sundown.”

Third place was a five-way tie among Jeanne King’s (Fulton) “Mine, mine, mine” (People/Portraits) and “Shades of Fin” (Animals), Tim Markert’s “Chittenango Falls” (Nature/Landscapes), Kim Rossiter’s (Fulton) “Gabriels” (Nature/Lanadscapes), and Nancy Swan’s (Phoenix) “Fire in the Clouds” (Nature/Landscapes).

Fourth place went to Alex McCombie (Fulton) for “Morning Graze” in the animal category, which won the judge’s Best of Show.
