Catherine “Kay” Galletta: Owned Westside Hardware

Catherine “Kay” Galletta, 87, of Fulton, passed away peacefully Aug. 25, 2013.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Catherine was born in Baldwinsville to the late James and Anna (Fichera) Valelunga.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joseph A. Galletta Sr., who died Sept. 24, 2011.

Catherine is survived by her children, Ann (John) Schaefer, Kathleen (Terry) Kinney, Nancy (James) Falanga and Joseph Jr. (Shona) Galletta; two sisters, Laura (Fred) Browning and Mary Ann Reiss-Brunwin; a brother, Ernest (Doris) Valelunga; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Catherine enjoyed a 38-year career as a supervisor with the railroad freight systems including: New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail.

She also worked with her husband, Joseph, to establish a business of 50 years, Westside Hardware.

Calling hours were Aug. 30 at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. today, Aug. 31, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Third and Buffalo streets, Fulton. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
