Committee OKs $14,400 to clean up waste sent to La.

An Oswego County legislature committee approved making a $14,400 payment to a Louisiana company to settle a hazardous waste disposal claim.

Oswego County was on a list of about 7,700 municipalities or entities that had shipped hazardous waste to a facility in Louisiana in 1993, said County Administrator Philip Church. That facility, the Marine Shale Processors Site, consisted of about 48 acres near Amelia, La.
