Tire amnesty to limit mosquitoes, disease

The Oswego County Department of Solid Waste is teaming with the office of state Sen. Patricia Ritchie to get rid of excess tires in the county where mosquitoes can breed.

Frank Visser, the county’s director of solid waste programs, said the county is planning a Tire Amnesty Day, where people can turn in their tires for free. He said it will be held at all of the county’s transfer stations.
