Local, national acts take stage at Christian music fest

The SOS Fest 3 is now an amazing memory for hundreds of Central New Yorkers. The SOS Fest is a three-day Christian music festival sponsored by the Cabin 3 youth group based in God’s Vision Christian church in Hannibal and was held July 19–21 at the Hannibal Firemen’s field.

All genres of music were enjoyed. Friday night started off with two local bands, The Sent Forth from Central New York and Second Story from Fulton.

The night was closed out with National recording artists the Brothers McClurg (aka Relevant Worship) and special guest speaker Wes Aarum, both from Buffalo. A wind and thunderstorm moved over the festival, but it hit right between two bands and only produced a small delay.

Saturday’s music had all ages pleased with many bands playing all evening. The Good Fight from Mexico kicked off the day followed by Molly’s Way from Utica, The 7 Thunders from Long Island, Against The Slate from Pennsylvania, Life Band from Rome, Grant Woell from Michigan and Everyday Sunday from Ohio.

Inspirational speakers included David Hayner from the New Life Church in Herkimer and Jonnie Nickles from Rome.

There was a free water slide set up as well as a variety of sale and display booths. Present at the festival was a booth sponsored by the Hannibal Community Park.

The Fowlers had a maple products booth with treats such as maple cotton candy. Cabin 3’s booth sold jewelry, T-shirts and more. The SOS Fest had a booth selling shirts and drawstring bags. World Vision’s booth displayed cardboard houses, and the American Baptist Men New York state had a display booth with PowerPoint presentations.

Other booths included a college student who is a missionary in China had a booth, Vintage Truth ministry from Buffalo, a Christian college from the Utica area, the Another Level youth group. Kingdombound Music Festival had a booth and The Field Of Miracles festival from Niagara Falls were represented as well. Many of the bands also had tables selling compact discs, T-shirts and other merchandise. The SOS Fest had a food booth selling pizza, subs and drinks.

Many other organizations had signed up to have a booth but due to the weather and other factors could not attend.

Plans are already underway for The SOS Fest 4. If any Central New York nonprofit would like to run a booth or game, contact Erik at 564-6133 for details. There is no cost to nonprofits. Vendors and crafters also are welcome. Details can be found at cabin3ministries.org.
