Michaels receives Red Cross leadership award

Deana Michaels was recognized at the annual Red Cross Volunteer Salute. She received the 2013 Oswego County Volunteer Leadership Award.

This award is given to a person who has sustained superior, outstanding leadership service at the local or beyond the unit level with or on behalf of the American Red Cross.

Michaels has been a volunteer with the Red Cross for 12 years and has just finished serving three years on the Central New York chapter’s board of directors. She has now agreed to serve on the advisory board at the Oswego County branch of the Red Cross.

Michaels has spent many years supporting the annual Heroes for the American Red Cross campaign as the event chairwoman, which required her to recruit many members of the Oswego County community to help raise $1,000 or more. Her leadership led the team to reach its goal. She also played an important role in planning the Arts in Motion fundraiser.

Michaels is branch manager at Fulton Pathfinder Bank.
