The 156th annual Oswego County Fair will take place July 3 through July 7 at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek.
The Youth Building will have a variety of daily activities for youth ages 5-19.
This year, the fair is celebrating summer in Oswego County with “campfire” sing-and-play along times and crafts featuring items such as sand, bugs, boats, and making homemade ice cream.
There are several events at the Heritage Building, including daily events of “Lost Crafters” weaving, spinning, tatting, crochet work and chair canning.
Wednesday, July 3 is Oswego River Valley Day at the Heritage Building, which will feature Oswego, Volney, Granby, Minetto, Hannibal, Fulton, and Schroeppel
Thursday, July 4 is North Shore/Central Township Day, featuring Constantia, West Monroe, Hastings, Mexico, New Haven, Scriba, Palermo
Friday, July 5 is Northern Township Day, which will feature Albion, Boylston, Orwell, Parish, Redfield, Richland, Sandy Creek, Williamstown along with neighboring towns of Osceola, Ellisburg and Florence.
Saturday, July 6 is Half Shire Day with a luncheon at noon while Sunday, July 7 is Military History Day.
There will be special attention to veteran’s research and the War of 1812. There will also be a special exhibit of Civil War artifacts and research materials.
Activities at the Agricultural Building will include the General Store, Dairy Bar, virtual tractor ride, antique farm equipment, Soil and Water Conservation District, Farmer for a Day, Back Porch Show, Hydroponics, Pedal Tractor Races, Hay Bale Toss, and a milk shake challenge.
Daily events at the fair will include a bike drawing, saw dust hunt, antique tractors, daily dinner drawing, John Deere 2 Cylinder Club, fireman safety training trailer, school bus safety demonstration, Magical John Show, Olde Time Lumber Jack Show, and antique engines
Wednesday, July 3 has been designated Summer Fun Day at the fair. There will be a youth poultry show, a Little Britches Show, harness racing, a youth dog event, a parade at 7 p.m., and Hell Drivers at 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 4 has been designated Military Appreciation Day. There will be a talent show at 9 a.m., a youth meat goat show, an open meat goat show, a skillet throwing contest, a youth beef show, a frozen T-shirt contest, a demolition derby, and fireworks at dusk.
Friday, July 5 has been designated Senior Citizen Day. There will be a junior dairy show, antique and out of field tractor pulls, a baby show, a senior spelling bee, an Oreo stacking contest, performance by the Black River Fiddlers, a youth sheep show, an open sheep show, modified lawn mower races, a youth swine show, and a performance by Mike White.
Saturday, July 6 is Legislator’s and Children’s Day. There will be a youth goat show, a Japanese Beardless Iris show, a cut leaf hosta show, a pie eating contest, and a demolition derby.
Sunday, July 7 is Family Day. There will be an open NBHA show, an ARBA open sanctioned rabbit show, a youth rabbit show, a church service, an open dairy show, an antique car show, lawn mower pulls, and a frozen T-shirt contest.
