Jean Marie Arena, 71, of Fulton, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday, June 22, 2013.
She was born May 5, 1942 in Port Byron to the late Thomas and Raffaela “Mary” Guidone. She graduated from Port Byron High School and Powelson Business School.
She was predeceased in death by her husband of 26 years, Louis, in 1989.
She worked side by side with her husband at both Arena Farms in Fulton and later at Arena’s Eis House Restaurant in Mexico from the 1960s through the 1980s.
For over two decades, she meticulously tended the gardens at the Eis House until her passing.
She loved to play golf and was active with various social service initiatives, as well as providing compassion and understanding to those in need.
She is survived by three sons, John D. of Newark, N.J., Robert T. of Boulder, Colo., and Paul A. of Mexico; her daughter-in-law, Sarah; two grandchildren, Louis Ross and Marteen Rose; three siblings, Anthony (Sandy) Guidone, Cathy (Tony) Tucci and Mary (Les) Deemer; her sister-in-law, Rae Arena; brother-in-law, Dr. Angelo Arena; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27 at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Rochester and South Third streets in Fulton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
