Phoenix boys varsity track and field sets two school records

The 10th annual Cicero-North Syracuse co-ed relay meet was recently the site of a record setting day for the Phoenix Boys Varsity Track And Field Team.

Phoenix finished seventh out of 20 schools overall. Two new school records were set in both the 400 Meter Hurdles Relay and Discus Throw relay events.

With earning finishes of third and tenth place respectively, Justin Rhodes and Dylan Switzer set a new school record for the 400 Meter Hurdles Relay Event with a combined time of 2:06.20.

Two Mexico athletes also took place in this event. Jacob Zedack earned a 23rd place finish with a time of 1:10.81. Austin Clark came in 29th place with a time of 1:18.66.

The Firebirds also came away from the meet with a new school record for the Discus Throw Relay Event. While coming away with first and 20th place finishes respectively, Jason Czyz and Bryce Ferris set a new school record with a combined distance of 214’-10”.

Other local athletes taking part in this event were Mexico’s Cameron Prior who came in 15th place with a distance of 98’-08”. Prior’s teammate, Thomas Ladd came in 17th place with a distance of 97’-00”.

Fulton’s Pat Fink and Brandon Ladd came in 24th and 32nd place with distances of 88’-11” and 75’-09”.
