Two Phoenix grapplers receive college scholarships

Phoenix varsity wrestlers Nick Tighe and Rowdy Prior will be taking their wrestling skills to the college level this fall.

This past season, Tighe won his third New York State Wrestling Championship. He was also the recipient of the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award at the state championships.

Recently, Tighe was named the recipient of two other awards. He was declared New York State’s Wrestler of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association named Tighe the New York State Sportsmanship Award winner.

Prior had a stellar senior Year as well. He earned a second place finish at the 2013 New York State Wrestling Championships.
