He was a graduate of Fulton High School class of 1960 and SUNY at Buffalo class of 1965 where he received his bachelor of science degree in business administration. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and served as a helicopter pilot based at the Naval Station in Lakehurst, N.J.
He had worked as a quality control engineer for P.S.E.&G. in Newark, N.J. for many years as a self-employed commodities trader and truck driver for various trucking companies. He enjoyed music, playing piano, traveling and spending time with his niece and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Everett Smith. Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Waldron Smith of Fulton; a brother, Brian (Sharan Nicola-Smith) Smith of Oakley, Calif.; nephews, Derek, Christopher and Jamison Smith; a niece, Brittney Smith; and several cousins.
