AA038180The Fulton Midget Hockey Team participated in its sectional tournament this past weekend. Fulton, Geneva, Cicero and Valley would play the round-robin style tournament in Valley, experiencing a weekend full of excitement and ups and downs for all four teams.

Fulton’s first opponent of the weekend was Geneva, a team Fulton had beaten twice the previous weekend. Geneva, however, appeared to not want a repeat of that, coming out very strong In the first period and tallying the only score to take the lead.

Fulton tied the score nearly five minutes into the second period when A.J. Pendell accepted a pass from Bryce Knight in front of the net for the easy goal. Fulton took the lead about 30 seconds later when Adam Croteau scored off an assist from Matt Billion.

Fulton held off Geneva’s offense for the remainder of the second period and most of the third, before Fulton’s Pendell scored his second of the game (unassisted) on a “coast to coast” break-away, a pass he originally accepted from goalie Keegan Murphy, followed by a wrist shot past Geneva’s goalie to increase Fulton’s lead 3-1.

This would be the final tally of the game. Keegan Murphy turned away 33 of the 34 shots he faced.

Fulton’s next opponent, Valley, has consistently proven to be a formidable opponent this year for Fulton and this game would be no exception.

After a scoreless first period, Valley scored the first goal of the game at 11:46 in the second period. Fulton’s Seth DeLisle answered to tie the game with a power play goal with just a minute left in the second period off an assist from A.J. Pendell.

Early in the third period, Valley scored two quick goals, which Fulton could not respond to. The game would end with a score of 3-1 in Valley’s favor. Murphy made 29 saves for Fulton.
