Carolyn Matzke, Phoenix resident

Carolyn T. Matzke, 94, of Phoenix, died Saturday Feb. 23, 2013.

She was born in Gouverneur, N.Y. to her late parents, Vera (Briggs) and Frank Thoman July 14, 1918. She was a secretary for the Radiological Society of N.A., Syracuse.

She  was a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Phoenix, and active in its Rosary Society. She enjoyed travelling.

She was predeceased by her husband, Otto K. Matzke Sr., Aug. 27, 2006; a grandson, Peter Matzke; three brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are her sons, Otto K. Matzke, Jr. of Phoenix, William A. (Judy) Matzke of Whispering Pines, N.C., and Robert F. (Dennis) Matzke of Matthews, N.C.; one daughter, Marilyn M. (Frank) Stephens of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A church mass only will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, with the Rev. Philip Brockmyre officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Roosevelt Cemetery, Schroeppel.

Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, has charge of arrangements.
