Robert Holt Sr., Army veteran

OBITS-HoltRobertSr_WRobert L. Holt Sr., 87, a resident of Pulaski for the past 60 years, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse.

He was born Aug. 16, 1925 in Fulton. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1944 and attended RIT in Rochester for two years. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946.

He married Phyllis Goebel in 1947 and she died in 1999. He was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Pulaski for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He also owned and operated Holt Studio in Pulaski for 30 years.

He was a member of the Pulaski Baptist Church, Robert Edwards Post #358 American Legion, Pulaski Odd Fellows, Pulaski Masons Lodge #415 and the Mad River Club.

Surviving are two sons, William (Rose) Holt of El Paso, Texas and Robert (Joan) Holt Jr. of Fulton; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one son, Richard Holt, who died Nov. 6, 1987, and one daughter, Donna Joyner, who died July 3, 2012.

A memorial service was held Jan. 11 at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Spring burial with military honors will be held Riverside Cemetery in Pulaski.
