Ruth Jodway will celebrate her 92nd birthday today, Feb. 2.
Born to Herbert and Bertha Guyer in 1921, she lived her young life in Fulton on 12th Street and later on Manhattan Avenue. Her siblings were Charles (Chuck), Howard, Neil, Alan (Al) and Clyde; along with Unelda (Barnard) and Helen (Hazard).
In May 1941 at age 20, she married Leo J. Jodway of Bundyville. She and Leo moved to Leo’s parent’s farm home where they began their married life.
Ruth and her husband raised four children, They are:
Leigh and Marilyn (Joyce predeceased in 2009) of Fulton. Leigh’s children include grandson Danny and Sue of Lubec, Maine with great-grandsons Josie and Cody, great-granddaughters Kimberly and Christina along with a great-great-granddaughter Jaylin. From Altmar is grandson Robert Fantom and great-grandsons Johnny and Jason; great-granddaughter Kylee with great-great-grandchildren Chase and Tyler, and great-granddaughter Sarah Fantom.
James (Jim) and Anna of Houston, Texas. Their children are grandson Charles of Houston, grandson Jason and Melissa of Houston with great-grandchildren Nicholas and Kierstin. Grandson Tripper (Jared) and Amy with great-granddaughter Starrlyte Moon and great-grandson Tripp Vader Edward; and granddaughter Jennifer and Jorge with great-grandsons Jorge Junior and Jayden.
Ronald (Ron) and Yeavon reside in Palm Desert, Calif. Their children are grandson Randy of Palm Desert, Calif., granddaughter Sunshine Godwin with great-granddaughter Bella of Palm Desert and granddaughter Ema and Jordan Bolen of San Diego, Calif.
Denise and Don Olejarczyk reside in Remsen, N.Y. Granddaughter Jami Buckley and great-grandsons Steven and Brandon are from Orlando, Fla. Granddaughter Tami and Chris Oliver with great-granddaughter Chloe of South Carolina. Grandson Kevin and Laura Bergman of Orlando, Fla. and granddaughters Sarah Guzman and Nicole Guzman.
Mrs. Jodway spent 57 years of marriage with Leo, who died in 1998.
She worked at the Morrill Press and in later years volunteered at the Oswego Hospital. She continues to be a friend and caretaker of her fellow residents where she resides at the Pontiac Nursing Home in Oswego.
