The Fulton varsity hockey team won its first game this season when it took on Clinton Jan. 18.

Trailing by a goal going into the third period, The Red Raiders scored two unanswered goals to come away with a 3-2 win.

Even though the Red Raiders played well early on, they trailed 2-0 at the end of the first period.

Going into the second period, Fulton Coach Todd Terpening opted to make a few adjustments in the team’s defensive zone while emphasizing the importance of getting onto the scoreboard.

About 10 minutes into the second period, the Red Raiders made the score 2-1 following a power-play goal from Kris Grow that was assisted by Matt Billion and Trae Sheldon.

Terpening emphasized the same points for both sides of the puck going into the third period as well.

Five minutes into the third period, Fulton tied the game at 2-2 when Craig Fountain scored a goal that was assisted by Trae Sheldon and Ryan Ross.

As time ticked away, the Red Raiders kept pressure on Clinton.

With seven seconds left in the game, Fulton’s Kris Grow won a face-off in Clinton’s defensive zone.
