The Fulton girls varsity basketball team recently lost to Jamesville-DeWitt, but bounced back to defeat Mexico.
Jamesville-DeWitt outscored the Lady Raiders 29-6 during the second and third quarters of their Jan. 8 game en route to a 48-31 victory.
The Lady Raiders had better luck against Mexico Jan. 15. Steady play proved to be key in the Lady Raiders’ 45-41 win over Mexico.
Fulton got off to a decent start against Jamesville-DeWitt. The Lady Raiders built a two-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
Jamesville-DeWitt dominated the second and third quarters. The Lady Red Rams outscored rhe Lady Raiders by seven points during the second quarter to take a 20-15 lead into halftime.
It didn’t get any easier for Fulton as Jamesville-DeWitt blew the game open during the third quarter.
Jamesville-DeWitt held Fulton to only two points while scoring 16 points to extend its lead to 21 points by the end of the quarter.
Despite trailing, The Lady Raiders showed no quit while battling to outscore Jamesville-Dewitt during the fourth quarter.
Fulton was led by Jessica Hudson and Christina Pensabene, who both scored 11 points. Nicole Hansen finished with four points while Taylor Duda, Courtney Parker and Michelle Gorea combined to score five points.
The Lady Raiders earned their first win of 2013 when they took on Mexico.
Fulton got off to a solid start against the Lady Tigers. They jumped out to a six-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
After an evenly played second quarter, Fulton had maintained its first quarter lead as it took a 24-18 lead into halftime. Mexico cut into lead to one point during the third quarter.
