The Phoenix girls varsity basketball team began the season with an eight-game losing streak. However, that all changed when Phoenix took on Chittenango Jan. 3.

After leading most of the first half, the Lady Firebirds held off Chittenango down the stretch to capture its second win of the season.

January 11, Phoenix dominated Jordan-Elbridge to mark its first multiple game win streak of the season.

The Lady Firebirds got off to a decent start when they took on Chittenango, jumping out to a three-point advantage by the end of the first quarter.

Phoenix added to its lead during the second quarter, outscoring Chittenango by five points to take an 17-9 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Chittenango outscored Pheonix by five points to cut the lead down to three points. Chittenango’s efforts fell short as Phoenix  held on for a 36-34 win.
