Carol M. “Peggy” Bickford will become the next Oswego County Board of Elections Commissioner for the Republicans at the first of the year.
Bickford will replace Donald Wart, who will retire at the end of the year.
Democrat Elections Commissioner Richard Atkins was reappointed to fill the position he has held since the retirement of William Scriber several years ago.
The positions are considered political and the candidates are selected by their respective caucuses.
Bickford, a Town of Palermo resident, is a 1977 graduate of John C. Birdlebough High School in Phoenix. She began working at the county Board of Elections in 1998 and currently serves as a deputy commissioner. The appointments are for a two-year term and each commissioner earns the same salary.
Commissioner are paid $52,184 annually.
