Fulton Community Band to hold Christmas concert

The sounds of the holiday season will once again be heard in Fulton as the Fulton Community Band will hold its annual free Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. in the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium.

The Fulton Community Band will be featured performing several new arrangements and old favorites, including Leroy Anderson’s “Christmas Festival,” the “Stars and Stripes for Christmas,” “A Jazzy Christmas,” “Santa Meets the Big Band,” and more.

The former Holy Family/St. Michaels Choir, under the direction of Dolores Walrath, will be also be singing in the concert.

“The band and choir will combine to perform ‘O Holy Night,’ as a tribute to the late Jack Walsh who passed away in June and traditionally sang this carol for decades and for every community Christmas concert,” said Steve Chirello, president of the Fulton Music Association.

“He was a community treasure and the recipient of the FMA’s 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award. “The evening will end with a rousing Christmas carol sing-along with the band, the choir, the Hamer Sing-a-long group and the audience,” Chirello added.
