Hannibal boys basketball team too much for Fulton

by Rob Tetro

The size, physicality and versatility of the Hannibal boys varsity basketball team proved to be too much for Fulton Thursday.

After a hard fought first quarter, the Warriors went on to outscore The Red Raiders 42-24 during the second and third quarters en route to a 69-45 win.

Hannibal showed early on that it was ready to put the height and size advantage it had over Fulton to work. However, despite being outsized in certain areas, the Red Raiders only trailed by a point at the end of the first quarter.

Hannibal’s height and size advantage began to wear the Red Raiders down during the second quarter. The Warriors outscored Fulton by seven points to take a 28-20 lead into halftime.

Having successfully worn down Fulton during the first half, Hannibal’s cohesive play blew the game open during the third quarter. The Warriors outmuscled the Red Raiders with its inside game while setting up its outside game.

Following a handful of 3-pointers, Hannibal went on to outscore Fulton by 11 points during the third quarter to expand its lead to 19 points.
