Muriel Smith, Former Fulton resident

Muriel I. Smith, 97, of Winter Haven, FL, died Oct. 20, 2012.

She was born August 15, 1915 to Frederick and Mildred Eggleston in Somerville, NY.

She was a graduate of Oswego Normal School and taught in a one-room school in Blossvale, N.Y. After marrying Frances E. Smith, who predeceased her in 1998, she moved to Fulton. Here, she raised her family and became a substitute teacher in the Fulton City School District.

Surviving are children Martha (Michael) Iamaio of Orlando, Fla., James (Suzanne) Smith of Melbourne, Fla., and Kathleen (David) Couture of Fulton; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Thelma Duhrke of Fulton.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service is planned in the spring.
