Fulton football ends season with playoff loss to Indian River

by Rob Tetro

The Fulton varsity football team’s season came to an end with a loss to Indian River in the opening round of Section III Class A playoffs last Friday.

Indian River jumped out to an early two-touchdown advantage, which proved to be a deficit Fulton could not overcome. Despite the Red Raiders’ best efforts to rally, Indian River came away with a 35-14 win.

Indian River got off to a quick start thanks to the efforts of Darius Bryant. Early in the game, Bryant scored on a run from 61 yards out to give Indian River a 7-0 lead. Later in the opening quarter, Bryant struck again. He rushed 69 yards for another touchdown for a 14-0 lead.

Indian River added to its lead early in the second quarter. David Morin caught a 71-yard touchdown pass from Kody Smith for a 21-0 lead.

Before the first half concluded, Fulton got onto the scoreboard. Mark Pollock scored on a run from 10 yards out to cut Indian River’s lead to 21-7.
