Poetry Corner: Nearly

by Jim Farfaglia

Just shy of full

you turn your face from me

to the deeper darkness.

Some nights the whole of life

is just too much

for even you to illuminate.

A mourning dove calls out,

coming to your defense.

Its well-rounded wisdom travels to you

then back to me:

We try so hard to be all.

Every now and then, let yourself be less.
