Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle, a Republican, and Democrat challenger Dan Maffei once again find themselves in a close race.
A Siena Research Institute poll shows the two candidates for the new 24th Congressional District are evenly divided with each favored by 43 percent of likely voters.
Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum has the support of seven percent of likely voters and seven percent remain undecided.
The telephone survey of 625 likely voters was conducted between Sept. 5 and Monday. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percent.
A large portion of Oswego County — including the cities of Fulton and Oswego — is included in the new district, which was a part of the reapportionment of the Congressional districts to balance them by population based on the 2010 U.S. Census.
