Born in Minetto, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Helen (Routcliffe) Pfeifer.
He was a member of the Merchant Marine during World War II. He worked as a tow motor operator for 50 years at Sealright Co. and retired in 1992.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing and was an avid Yankees fan. He was a trustee of St. Louis’s Church for over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Pauline (Grassi); three daughters, Nancy Pfeifer, Carolyn Pfeifer, and Melanie Woods, all of Oswego; one son, Charles Pfeifer of Oswego; one brother, James Pfeifer of Volney; two sisters, Irene (Joseph) Rebeor of Greenville, N.Y. and Sally Pfeifer of Virginia; two grandchildren, Casey Woods and Ryan Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours and a memorial service were held Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Oswego. Burial was in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
