Lady Raiders topple Jamesville-DeWitt 18-6

The Fulton girls lacrosse team advanced to the next round of the Section III Class A playoffs following after defeating Jamesville-Dewitt 18-6 Tuesday.
The Lady Raiders were effective on both sides of the ball during the second half to turn what was a competitive game early on into a rout.
Though the Lady Raiders were the higher seed, Jamesville-Dewitt Fulton tougher than expected during the first half. Going into halftime, the Lady Raiders had only a three-goal lead at 8-5.
Fulton played like a higher seed during the second half.The Lady Raiders outscored Jamesville-Dewitt by nine goals during the second half en route to the 12-goal win.
Fulton was led by Amelia Coakley, who had six goals and an assist against Jamesville-Dewitt. Julia Ludington scored four goals while Erica Knaub had a goal and two assists.
Kate Rothrock, Andrea Gould, Jordan Rizzo, Alise Tallents, Erika Johnson, Casey Shannon and Alanah McClellan all scored a goal for Fulton.
The Lady Raiders converted upon nearly 80 percent of their shots while Fulton’s Torrie Whelsky saved 11 out of Jamesville-Dewitt’s 17 shots on goal.
Season concluded
The Fulton boys lacrosse team’s season came to an end with a loss to Carthage in the opening round of the Sectional playoffs Wednesday.
Following an impressive second quarter, Carthage took a commanding lead into halftime, which proved to be a deficit Fulton couldn’t overcome.
Despite the Red Raiders’ best efforts to rally during the second half, Carthage cruised to a 14-7 win over Fulton.
