With only seven minutes left in its game last Tuesday, the Fulton girls lacrosse team trailed Mexico 6-3.
Victory didn’t seem to be in the cards for the Lady Raiders, however, they staged a furious rally that was capped off by a last second goal for the 7-6 win.
After essentially playing an even first half of play, the game was tied at 2-2 at halftime. During the second half, Mexico outscored Fulton by two goals to take a 6-3 lead into the game’s final minutes.
Fulton did not quit; instead the Lady Raiders rallied. They outscored Mexico by four goals while keeping them off the scoreboard.
Leading the way for Mexico was Joelle Lombardoni, who had three goals and an assist. Kali Domicolo added a goal and two assists while Jessica Lawler, Taylor Bentley and Alinda Dygert combined to tally two goals and three assists.
Keepers Sarah Brown and Meghan Williams combined to save four shots on goal.
Fulton was led by Kate Rothrock. She finished with four goals and an assist. Erica Knaub had a goal and an assist while Amelia Coakley and Julia Ludington each scored for Fulton.
Torrie Whelsky saved 11 out of Mexico’s 17 shots on goal.
