With Arts Fest just a few weeks away, the CNY Arts Center announced a call for local talent to compete for prizes June 9 at Fulton’s War Memorial Community Center.
With professional performing artists as judges, prizes will be awarded in three categories according to age: under 12, 12-20 and 20 and older.
“Arts Fest is meant to be a celebration of all the arts we represent as an organization. We see this portion of the event for the performing arts and hope to draw talent in multiple categories whether it is dance, vocals, musicians or bands, or even drama, storytelling or stand-up comedy,” said Nancy Fox, president of the organization. “We want to encourage everyone from the youngest to the oldest to come and share your family-friendly talent, whatever it is. We know the region has many wonderful performing artists. This is an opportunity to appear before an audience and receive helpful feedback from our judges.”
Fox continued, “We expect this festival to grow each year and become a highlight of the summer. Moving it to the Community Center at the War Memorial gives us ample space for a stage, featured entertainers and a powerful talent competition along with art and food vendors – all in one accessible location. We hope the community will embrace this celebration of the arts and come out for a day filled with best and brightest of Fulton.”
The talent competition will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon with prizes awarded by 12:30. Performers are invited to register online at www.CNYArtsCenter.com or by calling 598-8812.
