The Do Good Swing Band, a 17-piece big band like those made popular in the 1930s and 40s, has just released its first CD, “Introducing…The Do Good Swing Band,” according to Donald Goodness, director and lead trumpet.

“We’re thrilled to be releasing our first CD,” Goodness said. “It features 12 songs from the swing era that represent the wide range of bands and styles we recreate — everything from driving swing to samba.”

The CD is available at the Rivers End Bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St., Oswego; Midstate Music, 264 W. 2nd St., Oswego; and at A & J Music, 104 E. Bridge St., Oswego.
In addition, copies will be available at the band’s performances.

“The band has become well known throughout Central New York and we’ve developed a wonderful following for our authentic swing-era music,” said Goodness.

“For many folks, we’ve brought back warm, wonderful memories of the first time they danced to Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, and so many others from that era. ”

The band’s next performance is from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 19 at the River Walk Concert Stage in Oswego on behalf of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
