Cornell Cooperative Extension to teach vegetable gardening

There are just a few simple things a person needs to know in order to start their own vegetable garden. The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County Master Gardener volunteers are offering ‘Learn how to start a Vegetable Garden’, a workshop in which beginner gardeners can learn gardening basics and get their gardening questions answered.

This workshop will be held Monday, April 23 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Office in Mexico.

This class is not just for the beginner gardener. It is also a good refresher for the intermediate gardener. Topics to be covered include garden location, water, soil, site selection, fertilizer, container gardening, mulching, managing weeds, companion planting, garden layouts, tips on transplanting and seed saving.

There is a program fee.Registration is limited, and pre-registration is required.
