Fulton City Court Judge Spencer Ludington is seeking the support of Republicans to run for the Oswego County Surrogate Court judicial position being vacated by Judge John Elliott, who is expected to retire this year.
Elliott was elected to a new term two years ago, however, he has reached the mandatory retirement age.
Oswego County Republican Committee Chairman Michael C. Backus said he is aware of the upcoming vacancy.
“I have been made aware that Judge Elliot has reached the judicial mandatory retirement age, which triggers an election this November to fill the Surrogate Court judicial position,” he said.
“Judge Ludington has reached out to me and expressed his intension to seek the Republican nomination for the position of Surrogate Court judge,” Backus added. “I have encouraged him to move forward and talk with the town and city committees to seek their support.”
