The Phoenix varsity softball team didn’t play its best when it took on Christian Brothers Academy Friday.
Phoenix led most of the game when the contest moved into the sixth inning. By the end of the top of the sixth inning, The Lady Firebirds found themselves tied with Christian Brothers Academy.
What followed during the bottom of the sixth inning was of no surprise to Phoenix Coach Casey Jones. Phoenix quickly scored two runs, allowing the Lady Firebirds to escape with a 5-3 win.
Phoenix quickly got on the board. By the end of the first inning, the Lady Firebirds had a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same until the bottom of the third inning when Phoenix added two more runs to make the score 3-0. During the top of the sixth inning, Christian Brothers Academy scored three runs to tie the game.
