Twelve years ago Bishop’s Commons opened it’s doors to just a few seniors who opted for the new lifestyle that was described as
“the comforts of home without the worries.”

Since March of 2000, over 300 seniors have been served at the Enriched Living Residence while remaining active and independent.

A special Anniversary luncheon was held recently to commemorate the twelve year anniversary where Oswego Mayor Thomas Gillen thanked Residents for choosing Oswego, “Thank you for staying in Oswego, and making Oswego your home,” Gillen noted to a full dining room of Residents.

Executive Director Karen Murray and Senior Living Coordinator Julie Chetney both commented on their experiences from the day the doors opened, to the first residents and how much they have enjoyed being a part of the larger family of residents each day.

Three long-standing residents were asked to begin the well wishes prior to dessert.  Mae DeCastro who became a resident in November of 2004, Catherine Tesoriero who moved to Bishop’s Commons in June 2005, and Joe Hegadorn who has lived at the residence since August of 2002.
