Phoenix boys track team looks to build upon 2011

Last season, the Phoenix boys varsity track and field team finished with a 5-3 record in league participation.

This season, Coach Keith Walberger said his team’s goal is to improve on its third-place finish in the Freedom League.

In terms of experience and maturity, Phoenix expects to have a balanced mix of participants in 2012.

According to Walberger, his team will feature juniors and seniors who have an abundance of experience. The team will also feature freshmen and sophomores who are ready to make an impact.

Returning to the team in 2012 are Jeff Wells (mid-distance), Zach Manzer (jumps/sprints), William Miller (sprints), Zach Ramsey (sprints), Mitchell Alger (mid-distance/jumps), Justin Rhodes (hurdles, sprints), Jason Czyz (throws) and Tyler Doupe (jumps).
