The Valley News is Oswego County’s award-winning community newspaper serving the people in the greater Fulton area since 1947. We deliver award-winning journalism to our readers and results to our advertisers.

The Valley News is mailed to area subscribers each Wednesday and Saturday. Plus, we offer total market coverage in the Fulton & Phoenix areas each Saturday with the Patriot-Advertiser, direct-mailed to our local non-subscribers. Together our publications reach more than 12-thousand area homes.

Additionally, the Valley News produces more than twenty local special sections and supplements each year designed to meet the needs of our readers and business community. In 2010, the Valley News was acquired by the Scotsman Media Group in Syracuse, the long-time printer of the paper. As part of the Scotsman family of community publications we reach more than 230-thousand households each week.

 

Andrew Henderson, Managing EditorAndy, a graduate of Salisbury University in Maryland, has been the managing editor of The Valley News for 12 years. He has covered city and town government, crime, and education. He also pretends to be a humor columnist. In his spare time, Andy can be found rooting for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
 

Nicole Reitz, Assistant Editor - Nicole graduated with a degree in communications/journalism and has been with The Valley News for two years. She writes feature and human interest stories and covers the Fulton City School District and the Town of Granby.
 

 

Carol Thompson, Reporter – A veteran reporter, Carol has been covering county government for nearly two decades. She covers local and state government as well as national issues that impact Oswego County. Carol has won a multitude of awards for investigative reporting and was the 2006 recipient of the Syracuse Press Club’s Selwyn Kershaw Professional Standards Award.
 

Kelly LeVea, Photographer - Born and raised in Fulton, Kelly studied photography at Onondaga Community College.  In addition, she works for Dayger Photography Weddings, Family and Senior Portraits, specializing in babies. She enjoys sports photography, especially wrestling. Some of her work has been featured in USA Wrestling Magazine.

 

 

 

Roy Hodge, Columnist - Roy began his career at The Fulton Patriot in February of 1959 as a linotype operator.  During his long career, he performed every newspaper job — from paper delivery to editor and publisher. He has entertained readers with tales of his family’s antics and many interesting Fulton residents in his long-running “Hodgepodge” column. Roy retired from The Fulton Patriot in June of 2010.

 

 

 

Geraldine Hogan Kasperek, Columnist - Jerry writes “Jerry’s Journal,” a bi-monthly column featuring stories about local people and tales of the “good old days” in Fulton. She attended SUNY Oswego in the Writing Arts Program. She has written and edited newsletters for several different organizations and has had many articles published in various newspapers on community and environmental issues.

 

 

Leon Archer, Outdoors Columnist - Leon has been writing “The Sportsman’s World” column since 1985. He is a five-time first place winner of the New York State Outdoor Writers Association’s Excellence In Craft Award in addition to numerous other writing awards. He is currently an active member and vice president of the New York State Writers Association. His column covers a wide range of outdoor topics far beyond just hunting and fishing.
